The Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) certification is administered by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT). The AEMT cognitive exam is a computer-adaptive test (CAT) with a minimum of 115 and maximum of 150 questions. The exam has a 2 hour 15 minute time limit and covers five content areas: airway, respiration, and ventilation; cardiology and resuscitation; trauma; medical/obstetrics/gynecology; and EMS operations. A psychometric passing standard is applied. The AEMT scope of practice includes IV access, intraosseous access, select medication administration, and advanced airway management beyond the EMT level. Kaplan CertPrep's AEMT Exam Prep is being built to align with the current NREMT AEMT practice analysis and exam blueprint.
