The Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) exam is administered by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA). The exam consists of 150 multiple-choice questions (130 scored plus 20 pretest items) with a 3-hour time limit. Content covers clinical patient care, patient intake and documentation, infection control and safety, clinical procedures, EKG and cardiac monitoring, phlebotomy and specimen collection, pharmacology, and general medical assisting knowledge. The exam is delivered via PSI testing centers or online proctored testing. Candidates must have completed a medical assistant training program or have one year of supervised clinical experience within the past three years.
