The Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) certification is administered by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT). The EMR cognitive exam is a computer-adaptive test (CAT) with a minimum of 90 and maximum of 110 questions. The exam has a 1 hour 45 minute time limit and covers five content areas: airway, respiration, and ventilation; cardiology and resuscitation; trauma; medical/obstetrics/gynecology; and EMS operations. A psychometric passing standard is applied — there is no fixed percentage score. NREMT certification is recognized in all 50 states and is the standard for EMS licensure reciprocity. Kaplan CertPrep's EMR Exam Prep is being built to align with the current NREMT EMR practice analysis and exam blueprint.
