About the IBSC FP-C® Exam

The IBSC FP-C® exam consists of 135 total questions — 110 scored questions and 25 unscored beta items — with a 2.5-hour time limit. The exam is administered by IBSC at Prometric testing centers. It tests master-level paramedic knowledge specific to the flight and critical care transport environment, including flight physiology, altitude effects, advanced airway and ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, and critical care pharmacology. A valid, unrestricted paramedic license is required to apply. IBSC recommends candidates have experience with a flight or critical care transport team and current knowledge of ACLS, PALS, NALS, and ITLS/PHTLS standards. The FP-C® certification is valid for four years and can be renewed through continuing education or by retaking the exam.
