The Praxis Elementary Education: Mathematics (5903) exam is developed and administered by Educational Testing Service (ETS) and is used by more than 40 states for initial teacher licensure. The exam contains 50 selected-response questions with a 65-minute time limit. Content is organized into four areas: Numbers and Operations (approximately 36%), Algebraic Thinking (approximately 22%), Geometry and Measurement (approximately 18%), and Data Analysis and Probability (approximately 24%). Questions assess both content knowledge and the ability to apply mathematical concepts to classroom teaching scenarios. Candidates must demonstrate understanding of mathematical reasoning, problem-solving strategies, and how elementary students develop mathematical thinking. There is no predetermined passing score — each state sets its own cut score. The exam is offered year-round at Prometric testing centers and via at-home proctored testing. Kaplan CertPrep's Praxis 5903 Exam Prep is being built to align with the current ETS exam blueprint and covers all four content areas.
