The Praxis Elementary Education: Social Studies (5904) exam is developed and administered by Educational Testing Service (ETS) and is used by more than 40 states for initial teacher licensure. The exam contains 50 selected-response questions with a 65-minute time limit. Content is organized into five areas: United States History (approximately 25%), World History (approximately 20%), Government/Civics/Political Science (approximately 20%), Geography (approximately 15%), and Economics (approximately 20%). Questions assess both factual knowledge and the ability to interpret primary sources, maps, charts, and historical documents in the context of elementary instruction. There is no predetermined passing score — each state sets its own cut score. The exam is offered year-round at Prometric testing centers and via at-home proctored testing. Kaplan CertPrep's Praxis 5904 Exam Prep is being built to align with the current ETS exam blueprint and covers all five content areas.
