The Praxis Physical Education: Content Knowledge (5091) exam is developed and administered by Educational Testing Service (ETS) and is used by more than 40 states for K–12 physical education teacher licensure. The exam contains 120 selected-response questions with a 2-hour time limit. Content spans four areas: Movement Science and Motor Development (approximately 32%), Health-Related Fitness and Physical Activity (approximately 24%), Pedagogy and Effective Teaching Practices (approximately 28%), and Assessment, Evaluation, and Safety (approximately 16%). Questions assess knowledge of biomechanics, exercise physiology, motor learning, adapted PE, curriculum design, and legal responsibilities related to student safety. There is no predetermined passing score — each state sets its own cut score. Kaplan CertPrep's Praxis 5091 Exam Prep is being built to align with the current ETS exam blueprint.
