The Praxis Secondary Education: Mathematics (5165) exam, formerly known as the Mathematics: Content Knowledge exam, is developed and administered by Educational Testing Service (ETS) and is used by more than 40 states for secondary mathematics teacher licensure. The exam contains 60 selected-response questions with a 2.5-hour time limit. A graphing calculator is provided on-screen. Content spans five areas: Number and Quantity (approximately 12%), Algebra and Functions (approximately 32%), Geometry and Measurement (approximately 18%), Statistics and Probability (approximately 18%), and Calculus and Discrete Mathematics (approximately 20%). Questions assess mathematical content knowledge, problem-solving, reasoning, proof, and the ability to connect concepts across mathematical domains. There is no predetermined passing score — each state sets its own cut score. Kaplan CertPrep's Praxis 5165 Exam Prep is being built to align with the current ETS exam blueprint.
